About Budget Bill
What is Budget Bill?
Budget Bill is a free billing option that takes your annual energy bill and divides it by 12 whereby you pay the same amount each month.
How does Budget Bill work?
Your monthly payment is based on past energy consumption over 12 months for the premise, normal weather and expected natural gas costs for the upcoming heating season. In early summer, your Budget Bill recalculation will take place. Through this recalculation the following will occur:
- If you paid for more gas (or electric where applicable) than you used, we'll recalculate your new Budget Bill payment using your credit balance, which may reduce your new Budget Bill payment for the next 12-month period.
- If your actual charges are greater than what you paid while on the Budget Bill plan, your new Budget Bill payment may increase for the next 12-month period.
You must first register with Vectren.com and create an online account to enroll in BBill. If you do not have a Vectren.com account, click here to register. You will need your Vectren account number.
If you already have a Vectren.com account, click here to enroll in Budget Bill.
Which customers can enroll in Budget Bill?
All residential customers, certain small business, small farms, schools and not-for-profit organizations in good financial standing with Vectren are eligible for Budget Bill. Vectren natural gas customers must have 5,000 CCF’s or less of annual consumption to be eligible to enroll. Vectren electric customers must have 100,000 kilowatt hours or less of annual consumption to be eligible to enroll.
What if I am unable to make my Budget Bill payment?
If you do not pay your Budget Bill payment in full by the due date of the bill each month, you may be dropped from the Budget Bill plan. If you are unable to make your payment, please contact us online or call a Customer Service Specialist at 1-800-227-1376.
Can I re-enroll in the Budget Bill plan?
Yes. However, if you have been removed from Budget Bill for failure to pay your Budget Bill payment, you must settle any past due charges before re-enrolling.
What happens if I want to cancel my Budget Bill plan before the recalculation month?
Your account will be reconciled at that time by comparing your actual consumption to what you have paid on the Budget Bill plan.
- If you have paid for more gas (or electric where applicable) than you have used, your account will be credited for the amount.
- If you consumed more gas (or electric where applicable) than you have paid for, your next bill will reflect a balance due.
How can I discontinue Budget Billl?
You can cancel Budget Bill by logging in to your Vectren.com account. Billing preferences can be altered within the Manage My Account section.
