Job Summary:
The Company expert in technical GAAP and SEC 1934 Act Compliance. Prepares and or supervises the preparation of all 1934 Act SEC-related financial reports and is responsible for all related corporate file maintenance. Researches accounting issues for proper application of generally accepted accounting principles. Interprets the findings and reports the impact of accounting principles on the organization to senior management. Maintains current knowledge and evaluation of new accounting pronouncements. Prepares and or supervises the preparation of unaudited quarterly and annual financial reports for the three utility subsidiaries and the Nonutility Group for internal use. Prepares financial statements for Vectren¿s six various employee benefit plans. Performs certain special accounting projects as assigned by senior management. Works closely with senior management, independent auditors, and external legal counsel to appropriately communicate financial results and operations to shareholders, the SEC, and securities analysts. Works closely with senior management, independent auditors, and external legal counsel on any 1933 SEC-related filings. Facilitates CEO/CFO certification internal process. Assists with complex accounting areas such as share based compensation, pensions, derivatives, impairment calculations, and business acquisitions. Supervises staff that perform similar functions as well as those that perform certain nonutility group functions.

Qualifications
Education and Certifications Required: Bachelor¿s degree in accounting or finance; CPA. Preferred: MBA. Experience Required: At least 6+ years of equivalent experience; Experience in SEC-related reporting and financial statement interpretation. Preferred: Some utility experience preferred. Some public accounting. Functional / Technical Competency Requirements Required: Above average Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); Solid technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, SEC reporting requirements, and available research tools; Effective written and verbal communication skills, and excellent researching skills. Preferred: Oracle; Hyperion Planning and Reporting; Utility Accounting and Ratemaking concepts. Team player with strong leadership and management ability.
