Large customers can also lower their power costs by electing to designate a portion of their power level as interruptible. The Interruptible Contract Rider provides for a capacity credit per kVA equal to 90% of the per kW credit set out in Vectren’s Rate CSP, which was $5.74 as of April 2009 (this credit amount changes periodically). The Interruptible Option Rider provides for a lower credit amount, with different terms and conditions.
In the state of Indiana, customers who are engaged in manufacturing can seek an exemption from sales tax that is otherwise assessed against energy used in the manufacturing process.
Estimating energy costs is a key part of due diligence when a company considers making a large investment in a new or expanded facility. To help make this process easier, Vectren Economic Development has compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions and a Glossary of Electric Terms to assist companies seeking an electric cost estimate.
