About these rebates

Builders and contractors can earn cash rebates by constructing new, energy-efficient homes which achieve a certain Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index Score, which is a rating of energy efficiency. View the program fact sheet (PDF) to learn more.

How do I get started?

Ensure your plans qualify

Before construction, make sure you are eligible to participate and your building plans qualify for a rebate.

Get certified

After construction is complete, contact your local RESNET certified HERS rater to have your home rated and certified.

Apply for rebate

When you receive your certification, complete and submit the rebate application along with a copy of your HERS certificate within 90 calendar days.

What are the basic rebate requirements?

There are a few basic requirements that your new construction project must meet in order to qualify for rebates.

  • Utilizes Vectren service
    The home must be constructed in Vectren natural gas and/or electric service territories.
  • Meets age and type requirements
    The home must be a single-family detached home, duplex or end-unit townhome where only one wall is shared. The home must receive HERS certification within the dates specified on the rebate application.
  • Must be certified
    The home must be certified by a RESNET certified HERS rater.
